Nonlinear optical properties in glasses
Glasses are currently among the potential candidates for applications in optoelectronics (transport of information by optical fibers, switching, etc.). From the perspective of the development of such materials, this thesis analyzes the origin of the strong optical Kerr effect of glasses based on tellurium oxide TeO2. Ab initio calculations made it possible to establish correlations between the local structure of polarizable TeOn entities and their optical activity. In addition, the phenomenon of second harmonic generation in glasses was understood in the particular case of silica.
