Transfusion reactions. As with any therapy, blood transfusion may be responsible for side effects that are referred to as «adverse recipient events». They can occur during or within hours of a transfusion or later in the days or weeks after . Their declaration to the haemovigilance device is mandatory. Whether immediate or delayed, there are three main mechanisms are defined: immunological, infectious and overload. The haemovigilance device in proportion to severity and accountability. Their prevention is based on the safety of the prepared products as well as on the compliance with the rules on prescription, selection and transfusion concerning in particular recipient identification.
