Preparation of alkanesulfonic acids by photooxidation of dialkyl disulfides.
Résumé
A soln. of a dialkyl disulfide in an alc. is irradiated with light having wavelength 200-320 nm in the presence of O to give alkanesulfonic acids. Irradn. of a soln. of MeSSMe in MeOH in the presence of O gave 99% conversion of MeSSMe and a 65% yield of MeSO3H. [on SciFinder(R)]
