Gas-phase generation and photoelectron spectrum of 1,1-Dimethyl-N-Dimethylsilylsilanimine
Résumé
The unhindered 1,1-dimethylyl-N-dimethylsilylsilanimine was generated by the retroene reaction of the N-propargyl-1,1,3,3-tetramethyldisilazane under flash vacuum thermolysis conditions. This reactive silanimine was characterized for the first time by its photoelectron spectrum. The ionization potentials associated with the ejection of an electron from the nN and πsi = N orbitals are observed at 8.3 and 9.0 eV, respectively. This experimental result has been confirmed by an ab initio theoretical investigation of the Si = N - Si backbone using 6-31 G(d) and LANL1DZ basis set and MP2 level: electronic and structural characteristics of (CH3)2Si = N-SiH(CH3)2 have been thus determined. © 1997 OPA (Overseas Publishers Association).
