Towards a general characterization of conceptual neighborhoods in temporal and spatial reasoning
Résumé
We present a general method for describing the conceptual neighborhood structure of qualitative relations in temporal and spatial reasoning. This method is based on representing the topological structure of the configuration spaces in terms of incidence structures. We illustrate this approach on some of the qualitative calculi introduced in the literature, including Allen’s temporal calculus and Freksa’s directional calculus.
