Jitter impact on radio frequency accuracy budget in C-RAN architecture
Résumé
A key element in Cloud Radio Access Network (C-RAN) is the fronthaul segment between the centralized Digital Unit (DU) or DU pool and the Radio Units (RU) on the antenna site. Two specifications exist for the transport of the digitized radio signals on fronthaul: Open Base Station Architecture Initiative (OBSAI) and the Common Public Radio Interface (CPRI). Lately, ETSI has introduced also the Open Radio Interface (ORI) based on CPRI. The fronthaul segment introduces some stakes and dimensioning requirements that include data-rate, latency, jitter and synchronization. Focusing on the last two points that are strictly interdependent.
