A Preliminary Study of Fingerprint Quality Assessment of Minutiae Template
Résumé
Fingerprint quality is an essential factor to be considered for both enrollment and authentication phase due to the impact on the performance of biometric system. This study focuses on analyzing whether it is possible to evaluate fingerprint quality via minutiae-based template only. In order to achieve such a purpose, this study proposed several minutiae-based features which are mostly inspired by researches relating to fingerprint minutiae. Experimental results show that features computed in this study are able to contribute to fingerprint quality es-timation. Experiments have been condcuted on three FVC databases, and the result also has been estimated by using quality metric evaluation approach.
