Mathematical model of an electrical arc discharge through a porous medium
Résumé
A one-dimensional model is introduced to describe the plasma flow and the heat transfer in a porous medium. The compressible Euler equations have been used as the basic flow model coupled with a porous medium model taking into account the mechanical interaction gas-silica sand and the heat transfer between the hot gas and cold silica sand. The governing equations are discretized following a finite volume scheme coupled with a fractional step technique. This computational fluid-dynamics model is used for the numerical investigations of a gas flow in a porous medium for circuit-breakers.
