Fast semi-implicit level set methods for fluid structure interaction problems
Résumé
Level set methods are front capturing methods which allow to capture elastic stresses in fluid-structure interaction problems. With these methods both the fluid and structure are part of a single flow, modeled by the Navier-Stokes equations with source terms coupled with a transport equation for level set functions, and can be discretized in a straightforward way by finite-difference methods on cartesian grids. This talk reviews some ongoing work in our group to derive semi-implicit time-discretizations which allow to use large time-steps without extra computational time.
