Lexicographie, grammaire et lexique : une mise en perspective historique

Abstract : Electronic dictionaries and grammars have had as a consequence that work on the lexicon, morphology and syntax are no longer clearly distinct disciplines. This article retraces the history of the reseach methods that over the last quoter of the 20th century brought about this interdisciplinary revolution. It is necessary to insist on the importance of lexicography, eleveted - from Pierre Larousse to Maurice Gross - to the rank of experimental lexicology in contemporary linguistics. That new scientific ambition, widely ackowledged today, derives, directly from the 19th century, the ‛century of dictionaries'. It cannot be dissociated from computer tools, originally launched by the LADL, a pionner in the domain thanks to the invention of lexicon-grammars.
