Le renouvellement urbain en France : du traitement morphologique à l'intervention sociale.

Abstract : Urban renewal, an idea recently very popularized by the debates around town policy, is in fact a very old way of changing the cities. A scattered urban renewal has been practiced since the origins of the cities, rebuilding cell by cell it's different elements. Much closer to us, a more efficient proceeding of concentrated urban morphologic renewal has been experimented and defined in the 19th century. However, actually, the idea of urban renewal is still evolving and diversifying : much more than before it integrates a social approach, taking into account the interests of the inhabitants as a response to the social problems of french cities.
