S'approprier l'espace urbain par le vélo: mouvements cyclistes et féministes à Bogotá

Abstract : While the use of bicycle is expanding exponentially in the number of cyclists and the number of trips made on a bicycle, this means of transportation is also becoming a matter of gender inequalities. In Bogotá, only 25% of the trips made on a bike were women’s trips (EMU 2019). Recent studies (EMU 2005, 2011 et 2019) and academic investigations on the subject (Montoya Robledo et al., 2020 ; Falú, 2009 ; Lindenberg Lemos et al., 2019 ; Raibaud, 2020 ; Dill et al., 2014) show of important security is, especially for women. Beyond this first observation, bike is often presented as an emancipation and urban exploration tool (Sanchez Bernal, Triana Gallego, 2018). Female bike activists are trying to answer to the first problem identified here by building consciousness among all public space citizens. They organize workshops for learning how to ride, actions to design a safer public space, or urban tours. The ecosystem of cycling activism in Bogotá is very busy, and finds its revindications materialization in the dialogue with public institutions.
