EREAT: efficient route estimation based-on actuator tracking for WSANs

Résumé

In Wireless Sensor and Actuator Networks (WSANs), one of the major challenges of routing is to ensure the tradeoff between the energy consumption and the end-to-end delay, especially, where the mobility of actuators is highly frequent. The mobility generates an considerable overhead, since the topology changes frequently, and hence providing a continually route update. In this paper, we address this issue and we propose a protocol called EREAT (Efficient Route Estimation based-on Actuator Tracking) for WSANs. EREAT exploits the actuators dynamicity in order to track them and save their trajectories in order to estimate later efficiently their locations. EREAT reduces the overhead generated by the periodic control messages, the energy and the response time. The accuracy of EREAT is evaluated through simulations, where the obtained results demonstrate its efficiency in terms of energy consumption and end-to-end delay.
