Abstract : This article is interested by the development of a sociology of architecture in the higher education and research in architecture. It seemed that during the years 1960-1970, period of change of the studies of architecture, this sociology was delayed by a systematic questioning of the social and urban context in which the practice of the architects fits. Prolonging this report, we questioned the sociology of the occupation of architect who developed independently of architectural research in the course of institutionalization. For the current situation, we could analyze a diversification and a renewal of the architectural research which follows the transformations of the French architecture of the years 1980. What enabled us to identify several researches contributing in a decisive way to a sociology of architecture, but without stating it or defining it. It is with this definition that we wanted to contribute using the constructivist paradigm which proved reliable in the social sciences.
