La maquette in situ comme pédagogie immersive du projet urbain : Des étudiants au cœur du quartier des Escanaux à Bagnols-sur-Cèze. A quoi joue-t-on ?

Abstract : Here we would like to share some information, mainly of a methodological nature, which resulted from a particular pedagogical approach: the urban project workshop for students of the Master's degree in Urban Planning and Development - "urban design" course, which was carried out from November 2015 to January 2016. The Communauté d'Agglomération du Gard Rhodanien and the City of Bagnols-sur-Cèze, partners of this workshop, invited the students to anticipate the next urban renewal of the Escanaux district while taking into account the inhabitants' points of view. In order to do this, the teaching team set up a singular protocol based in particular on the creation of in situ models. The students, divided into groups of three, occupied different places in the Escanaux district (social centre, medical centre, landlord's premises, association café, building entrance, etc.) to materialise and be able to submit for discussion a composition of their project in the form of models. Based on the narration of this pedagogical experience, the links between game - of construction and of immersion - urbanism and participation will be questioned. How do these in situ models articulate experimentation, explanation and attentive listening? How do they bring about a recomposition of the relationships between students, inhabitants and sponsors - even teachers? Do they shape a specific pedagogy? Under what conditions, then, could we speak of a game methodology?
