Statistical investigation of AC breakdown voltage of natural ester with electronic scavenger additives

Résumé

Recent studies have shown that small amounts of electronic scavenger compounds such as carbon tetrachloride (CCl 4 ) and iodomethane (CH 3 I) in mineral oil significantly improves the AC breakdown voltage. The aim of this study is to investigate the effect of these two additives on the AC breakdown voltage of MIDEL 1204 natural ester. The measurements were obtained according to IEC 60156 and the results were statistically analyzed and shown to conform to Weibull and Normal distributions. The experimental results show that the breakdown voltage of natural ester with a risk probability of 1% can be improved by 14% with CH 3 I and 33% with CCl 4 , whereas the improvement with a risk probability of 50% is 2% and 15% with CH 3 I and CCl 4 , respectively.
