Les anagrammes de Saussure après un demi-siècle

Saussure's anagram theory was discovered half a century ago. The first objective of this paper is to critically assess the reception of the anagrams between 1960 and 1980. It will thenexamine aspects of Saussure's research, not revealed in the first reception,in the notebooks of anagrams. This analysis highlights the interconnection of the study of anagrams with a network of other research, conducted by Saussure at the same time.Several similaritiescan be drawnbetween all of theresearch:(1) arithmetic approach of the signifier, (2) verbal metrics, (3) importance of a comparative and historical method in linguistics. To conclude, these elements give an overview of the Saussurian theory of anagrams which is very different from the conceptions inherited from the reception of anagrams inthe 60s and the 70s.
