Corrosion behavior of bulk (Zr 58 Nb 3 Cu 16 Ni 13 Al 10 ) 100-x Y x (x = 0, 0.5, 2.5 at.%) metallic glasses in sulfuric acid
Résumé
Bulk (Zr 58 Nb 3 Cu 16 Ni 13 Al 10 ) 100-x Y x (x = 0, 0.5, 2.5 at.%) metallic glasses exhibited good passivation ability and outstanding corrosion resistance in de-aerated 0.5 mol/L H 2 SO 4 solution. It was mainly beneficial from the stable passive film which mainly consisted of ZrO 2 and Al 2 O 3 . However, the defects concentration in the passive films increased with the increasing yttrium content in the Zr-based BMGs. The yttrium additions improved the electrochemical homogeneities of the Zr-based BMGs, but facilitated the dissolution of Cu, resulting in a slight deterioration of corrosion resistance of the Zr-based BMGs. © 2019 Elsevier Ltd
