L’abbé Geoffroy de Vendôme (1093-1132), initiateur des Annales de Vendôme ?

Abstract : The Annals of Vendôme, wich survive in a unique manuscript – the original exemplar coming from the Abbey of the Trinity (ms. Oxford, Bodleian Library, Bodley 309) –, derive indirectly from the Recueil initial de Saint-Maurice d'Angers, composed in the third quarter of the eleventh century. We propose to identify the abbot Geoffroy of Vendôme as having introduced a copy of the annals of Angers in his abbey and initiated the continuation of this text. It is possible that the hand of Geoffroy, thus far unknown, figures in this valuable document.
