Optimal design of a dielectric totally internally reflecting concentrator for CPV units

Résumé

The aim of the presented work is to determine the optimum height and front surface arc angle of dielectric totally and internally reflecting concentrator associated with a Fresnel lens for solar concentrators used in photovoltaic systems. Ray tracing technique was used to simulate the optical characteristics of this CPV unit with various design parameters. An optimum concentrator was determined by varying sizes of the secondary optic and using two materials: the Fused Silica and the BK7.
