The Activity is an experience report that presents a real problem situation, proposing to the student, from a text interpretation and basic knowledge of mathematics, to perform a critical analysis on the scarcity of drinking water in the world. This first stage, leads the student to construct a reflection on how consumerism is related to environmental issues. In a second moment, we observed that when using Critical Mathematics Education as a theoretical contribution it was possible to direct a cross-sectional theme to the Mathematics discipline and to ratify that it is fundamental for the citizen training of our students.

A Atividade é um relato de experiência, que apresenta uma situação-problema real, propondo ao aluno, a partir de uma interpretação de texto e conhecimentos básicos de matemática, realizar uma análise crítica sobre a escassez de água potável no mundo. Esta primeira etapa, leva o aluno a construção de uma reflexão sobre como o consumismo está relacionado às questões de cunho ambiental. Em um segundo momento, observamos que ao utilizar a Educação Matemática Crítica como aporte teórico foi possível direcionar um tema transversal, para a disciplina de Matemática e ratificar que esta é fundamental para a formação cidadã dos nossos alunos.
