Evaluation automatique de l'intelligibilité de la parole dans le contexte de cancers de la tête et du cou

Abstract : Automatic evaluation of speech intelligibility in the context of head and neck cancers. In disordered speech context, and despite its well-known subjectivity, perceptual evaluation has been, and still, the most commonly used method in clinical practice to evaluate the intelligibility level of speech productions of patients. The work presented in this paper consists in reproducing the automatic method of intelligibility prediction, proposed in a previous study, on a corpus of head and neck cancer patients, and presenting more or less severe disordered speech. This work should permit (1) to compare the behavior of the automatic system for predicting the degree of intelligibility in a different patient population, (2) to demonstrate the relevance, in terms of application of automatic tools, of a new protocol of patient recordings, based on logatomes and dedicated to the evaluation of intelligibility. The experimental results obtained confirm the validity of the automatic approach (correlation r = 0.84) but also the one of the protocol used.
