The Amduat and the Book of the Gates in the Tomb of Padiamenope (TT 33)

Résumé

As a member of the epigraphic mission (IFAO-Strasbourg-Montpellier) led by Claude Traunecker since 2006 in the tomb of Padiamenope (TT 33), I study the copies of the Amduat and the Book of the Gates. Much damaged, these versions are characterised by interesting features: they are the last known complete copies of both compositions on tomb walls, Padiamenope’s copies sometimes clarify the oldest and often more corrupted versions of the New Kingdom, and these two compositions are a part of an original decoration program within a peculiar architectural framework. This article focuses on three points illustrating the on-going work : assemblage of inscribed fragments ; example of a metatext ; the hapax (?) verb mḫn.
