Power Capability Study of a Cascaded Doubly Fed Induction Machine

The paper deals with the steady state operating limits of a cascaded doubly fed induction machine in terms of active and reactive powers. Analytical method is suggested to derive the power margin of the machine with regard to its rated parameters. Its is shown that the power capability depends on both induction machines parameters. For a limited speed range the reactive power consumption and generation are determined by the stator currents maximum values. The study is further extended to include the effect of the slip range and the terminal voltage on the power limits curve.
