Quantification of the potential benefits of combining specific species and/or genotypes to adapt grasslands to warmer and dryer climatic conditions and management options to maintain stable species proportions (South‐West Europe)
Résumé
South-western European Forage production systems will have to adapt to more severe Mediterranean climatic conditions. Utilisation of Mediterranean genetic resources into future breeding programs, together with the development of resilient species mixtures, appear interesting strategies for a large part of south-western Europe, except for the more arid locations where development of semi-permanent legume rich pastures is probably more adapted.
