Résumé
Certainly there is some paradox to associate retailing and sustainable development. However, after first phases of devastating consumerism, when retailing was a powerful leader of a development without brake, substantial changes occur in the western world, in particular in France. New mechanisms look for moderation in the development of the urbanization and also aim at inserting harmoniously retailing into the rural world, the companies of the large-scale distribution being closely interested in the sustainable development, some even trying to apply its principles.
