Apprentissages émotionnels : Le poids des collectifs de travail

Abstract : Based on a comparative study of morticians, hospital pediatric services and two police departments, the article studies the role that working groups play in emotional socialisation. It reveals that working groups are essential socialisation agents. The professions in question are ones where relational and emotional work with users is key to technical implementation. More than a simple extension of theoretical training, this kind of work underpins people’s professional ethos. In the present case, it also assumes the role of a priority space for sharing work-related emotions – and differs, in that way, from other kinds of support, including an individual’s private entourage and/or institutionally championied psychological support systems.
