Résumé

This paper examines the area of attributive predication and its emergence and development in the Creoles of Suriname focusing on the Eastern Maroon Creoles. The paper shows strong parallels between patterns of predication in the creoles and Gbe suggesting that the former were modeled on the latter. However, they are not a direct copy due to influence from other sources.
