Un plaidoyer pour Do[ing] The Right Thing

Abstract : Spike Lee’s Do The Right Thing (1989) continues to raise questions and debates. In contrast with traditional analyses, this article studies the film as staging three unusual protagonists: music, heat and the neighborhood. This sensitive configuration allows for a different linkage between a form of ambiantal determinism and a certain expressivity granted to certain characters. It also leads to shedding light on the perfectionist thematic of the film.
