Ferdinand de Saussure à la recherche des anagrammes : les cahiers homériques

Abstract : Thesis abstract. This thesis propose a historic and epistemic study of Ferdinand de Saussure’s anagrammatic research. We start with manuscripts devoted to homeric anagrams. This set of twenty-four books is unprecedented and reflects a state of research earlier than previously known by the study of Latin texts. We propose as prerequisite and support of our analyses the complete edition of this corpus. We proceed by the historiographical reconstruction of the research-progress, the dating of manuscripts and the clarification of the sources used. Then we examine the method and the theoretical issues of anagram notebooks. We discuss new aspects of anagrammatic research - reflections on oral poetry, writing or phonic identity – of which the recent enlargement of the documentation provides a better understanding. This journey in four stages - Edition, Historiography, Methodology and Theory of anagrams - is a contribution to the knowledge of Saussurean thought.
