Instrumentum de toilette et de chirurgie à Ludgunum : Un état des données

Abstract : This article focuses on toilet and surgery objects of all materials from ancient or recent excavations in Lugdunum and sometimes unpublished. The spatial analysis of this corpus allows to consider a first distribution by quarters. In the case of a transversal study like this one, it seems relevant to classify pre-existent functional categories in three groups: toilet and body care purpose, medical and surgical purpose and dual purpose. This latter section groups multipurpose artefacts for which the typological approach is not sufficient: assemblage practices studies may allow to attribute these objects to one or to the other sphere. Besides a better knowledge of these types of small finds, this study can also open on larger questions such as the roman practice of the medicine in Lyon.
