This essay deals with the prohibition of the potlatch in Bristish Columbia since 1885 following the implementation of the potlatch law wich led to the confiscation of the Kwakwaka'wakw ceremonial objects by the Canadian government in 1922.

Cet article examine l'interdiction du potlatch en Colombie britannique à partir de 1885, après le passage de la loi anti-potlatch (potlatch law), jusqu'à la confiscation d'objets cérémoniels aux Kwakwaka'wakw en 1922 par le gouvernement canadien.
