Parent-child cooperation in mathematics learning: Insights into maths-experience days
Résumé
Considering the fact that the influence parents have on their children's mathematical development is unavoidable , it should be less the question whether parents should participate in their children's mathematical education, but more how their participation could be incorporated more consciously. This issue becomes even more crucial with regard to secondary school mathematics. In this paper, one approach is presented, namely a family math in which parents and their children get the opportunity to deal with mathematics in problem-based discovery learning environments together as a team. The focus of this paper lies in the investigation and characteri-sation of parent-child cooperation in the course of the first workshop of the project, as well as factors promoting such cooperation or hindering it.
