Abstract : Political Psychology addresses research questions pertaining to political behaviour by drawing on theories and concepts from Psychology and Social Psychology. Its broad scope of topics includes amongst others the analysis of political elites, in particular their personality, motives and actions, political leadership, foreign policy decision-making, international and ethnic conflicts and conflict resolution, terrorism, collective action, group-based behaviour, political socialization and attitudes, stereotypes and prejudice, voting behaviour, political communication, information processing, media effects and public opinion. In this introductory handbook, renowned international and German speaking scholars of Political Psychology present and discuss the scope of its topics for the first time in German language. This introductory handbook addresses students and lecturers of Political Psychology, Political Science, Psychology and Social Psychology as well as a general readership that is interested in topics and theories of Political Psychology.
