Biomedicine and EU law: unlikely encounters?

This paper examines the ways in which the EU has become an actor in the field of biomedicine. It looks at legislative action, but also more indirect forms of intervention, such as Ethics Committee Opinions, research policy etc. It offers insights as to the ways in which "ethics" are becoming a new tool of European governance.
