Routing and Wavelength Assignment in Optical Networks
Résumé
Wavelength Division Multiplexing (WDM) is the dominant transport technology used in numerous high capacity networks, based on optical infrastructure. Given the importance of costs associated to thes networks, resource management is becoming increasingly important, especialmy how the optical circuits (lightpaths) are routed throughout the network. This requires the use of efficient algorithms with provides routing strategies with the lowest cost. In this paper, we study two different problems related to WDM networks: topology design (TD) problem where we search to minimize the number of used lightpaths to route trafic demands, and routing and wavelength problem (RWA) where we try to optimize the use of wavelength resources. Differents formulations and algorithms are proposed to solve these problems. Results show the effectiveness of our solutions.
