Résumé

The present contribution deals with active control of rotating machinery. Modal control strategy is chosen for its effectiveness and capability of avoiding spillover effects. The first four modes are considered for control purposes. They correspond to the first two flexible modes along the two lateral directions. Two different approaches are applied in order to determine the controller gains. The first utilizes Linear Matrix Inequalities (LMIs) and, the second, is based on Fuzzy Logic. In both approaches, gains are determined for the modal displacements and modal velocities. A Kalman estimator is designed and utilized to rebuilt modal quantities. The two strategies are applied to the control of an academic test rig. In this study only numerical results are presented. Numerical simulations are performed for several configurations of the system, as similarly as possible to experimental conditions. Effectiveness to attenuate the vibrations due to impulse excitation and during run-up is assessed. Also, tests are performed in order to examine the robustness of the controllers. Both approaches are efficient and robust with a slight advantage for the FL approach.
