Active feedback for training in virtual environments
Résumé
This work is focused on the development of a training system for CNC machining based on a formative feedback concept. Learner's activity is represented through a task model and a user state model. An experimental survey has been conducted with the mechanical engineering students pursuing a machining course at the University of Technology Compiègne, using a 3D virtual replica of a real machine built using the simulation engine "Revia". The feedback model is drawing upon the data from both the task and user models. The type of the feedback, the grade of the feedback, whether or not it should be displayed immediately or only recorded for later use, the timing so that the user is not overloaded with information - all of this is decided using a fuzzy logic system.
