A direct solution for blind separation of sources

Abstract : The paper proposes a direct estimation of the mixing matrix and not a tuning of the separation matrix as usually done. The method is based on resolution of a set of 8 equations involving cumulants up to order 4 of the mixture signals, which may be reduce to resolution to a second order polynomial equation. Experimental results and robustness suggest to use the method as a preliminary step to propose good starting points.
