OFDM system identification using pilot tone signature

Résumé

This paper deals with the challenge of OFDM system identification. In a recent paper, we developed a Generalized Likelihood Ratio Test approach that exploits only the pilot positions to detect the presence of a given system. In this paper, we propose to exploit the redundancy often induced between the pilot symbols as a side information to improve the detector performance. Computer simulations show that the proposed algorithm outperforms the first proposed method and the existing techniques in the literature. More than system detection, the proposed algorithm performs channel estimation as well as estimation of the noise variance and is computationally inexpensive.
