Hydrogenated liquids and hydrogen production by non-thermal plasmas

Résumé

The study presented is devoted to the plasma steam-reforming of ethanol, methanol, ammonia, and vegetable oil. Particular attention is directed to the possibility of using plasma technology for the recovery of biomass products. A stationary discharge is used in order to perform physical diagnostics and also chemical analysis. The arc is formed between two electrodes made of graphite. The chemical diagnostics are performed in order to determine the efficiency of the process. The gas chromatography and Fourier Transform Infra Red (FTIR) techniques are used to determine various species concentrations (H2, CO, CO2, and C2) as functions of flow and inlet liquid mixture concentrations parameters. Values of H2/CO ratio and the composition of synthesis gas according to various operating conditions are also presented.
