Nouvelles données sur le Néolithique ancien gardois : résultats des campagnes de fouille 2001-2002 de la grotte du Taï (Remoulins)

Abstract : The grotte du Taï in Remoulins (Gard) has been excavated since the summer 2001. A test excavation made in 1970 near the entrance revealed an important sedimentary infilling and two archaeological sets dated from the Early and Late Neolithic. This excavation aims at characterizing how the first farmers' communities settled in Languedoc through three complementary focuses : - the chronocultural attribution of the several layers, which will permit in a larger geographical scale to complete the Early Neolithic sequence in southern France, - a paleoeconomic and paleoenvironmental approach of these societies, - and an attempt of reconstruction of the settlement scenarios in the cave. We present here a state of our knowledge concerning the Épicardial settlement through the preliminary analysis of space organization, material productions and economic components
