The perception of non-native vowel contrasts as evidenced by auditory ERPs

The acquisition of two French contrasts -- open and closed /o/, and /y/ - /u/ -- was examined in Spanish native speakers learning French as adults. ERP components N2 and P3 showed earlier acquisition of the latter contrast.
