Decelerating boundary layer : a new scaling and mixing length model

Résumé

A model experiment has been designed in the frame of a coordinated European project called AEROMEMS. This model is a 2D bump in a boundary layer wind tunnel, which mimics the adverse pressure gradient on the suction side of an airfoil at the verge of separation. The flow is characterized mainly by hot wire anemometry. The integral parameters and the mean velocity profiles are compared to existing models and to Navier Stokes computations. A new scaling and a new mixing length model are proposed and validated also on the Ludwig & Tillman data.
