Buckling of polymerized monomolecular films
Résumé
The buckling of a two-dimensional polymer network at the air-water interface has been evidenced by grazing incidence x-ray scattering. A comprehensive description of the inhomogeneous octadecyltrichlorosilane polymerized film was obtained by atomic force microscopy and x-ray scattering measurements. The buckling occurs with a characteristic wavelength $ \simeq 10\ \mu m $ consistent with a recent theoretical prediction. ----- Ce manuscrit décrit les premières observations du flambage d'une monocouche formée de molécules polymérisables à l'interface eau-air. Les observations sont faites à l'aide de deux techniques: diffusion des rayons x sous incidence rasante et microscopie de force atomique. Ces résultats sont comparés à des théories récentes prévoyant une instabilité de flambage. Celle-ci n'est pas observée expérimentalement probablement à cause du caractère inhomogène du film. Ce manuscrit présente les résultats expérimentaux avec clarté ainsi qu'une comparaison soignée avec la théorie. Il mérite une publication rapide. \vskip 20mm \hfill{F. Perrot}
