On the interaction between a current and a vector potential

We present a review of the works describing the origin of the magnetic torque as the vectorial product of the magnetic moment and the magnetic induction. We show that this expression corresponds to a particular case of a more general expression making intervene the vectorial product of the current density and the vector potential.
