Variational approach for the two-dimensional trapped Bose Einstein condensate

We present a formalism which takes into account the back action of the non-condensed fraction on the condensate field in a two-dimensional trapped Bose Einsteincondensate. For this purpose, we use the many-body variational gaussian approach while interactions are described using a generalized pseudo-potential. By this way, we predict a non trivial equation of state beyond the ultra-dilute limit and solve stability problems encountered in similar but non-variational formalisms for a single vortex configuration at finite temperature.
