The structure of super-heavy nuclei

Properties of transactinide nuclei needed for the interpre tation of spectroscopic data and for the extrapolation to the expected "island of sta bility" of superheavy nuclei are reviewed from a theorist's point of view in the framework of s elf-consistent mean-field models.
