The compound [Ru(bpy)3]Mn2[Cu(opba)]3 . 13H2O (bpy = 2,2'-bipyridine, opba = orthophenylenebis(oxamato)) in which the photophysically active chromophore [Ru(bpy)3]2+ is located between anionic ferrimagnetic layers exhibits a spontaneous magnetization at Tc= 12 K.
