Concurrent-WIP: an illustrative example with application to WIP absorption

Abstract

The Concurrent WIP (CWIP) is a way to monitor locally a production system so as to characterize how this system behaves in the current real conditions; it applies to any kind of production system and does not require a precise knowledge nor description of this system. This technical report provides an illustrative usage on how to compute CWIP and associated indicators, and use them to infer the time required to absorb a given amount of WIP.
